Steel plugs

Leak Testing, Isolation, Sealing and Stopping

Steel Test Plugs can be used for low pressure testing and plugging all pipes, pipelines and pipe work fabrications and any other orifices between 2 to 48" (50 to 1200 mm) diameter.

Steel Drain Test Plugs are specifically designed for heavier duty applications such as long immersion in water, for use at higher temperatures or for contact with acidic or alkaline environments for which the nylon, aluminium and inflatable plugs are unsuitable.

These  Steel Test Plugs and Stoppers can be used as Drain Test Plugs, Sewerage Test Plugs, Waste Test Plugs, Plumbing, Welding Purge Plugs and many other applications.

Steel Test Plugs and Stoppers are suitable for the more arduous tasks such as:

• Contact with acidic or alkaline environments.
• For long immersion in water.
• Use at higher temperatures.

The standard seals are made from natural rubber although specific synthetic seals are available for applications where greater chemical resistance and/or higher temperature operation is required.

Options are:

         • Silicone
         • Nitrile
         • Neoprene
         • Viton

Steel Test Plugs and Stoppers are available as single plugs as well as double versions for greater sealing capacity and stability inside pipes. A patented friction-free washer allows for easy tightening of the wing nut.

With the Double Steel Testing Plugs, the pressure capability of the Plug increases, the double plug preventing tipping (like a 'butterfly' valve) to guarantee the seal. They are more secure at the highest point of their pressure range and give more stability inside the pipework, giving a greater guarantee of the seal.

All Plugs conform to Quality Standards BS8005 and BS EN752-4 for low pressure testing and sealing of pipes.

Steel Test Plugs and Stoppers are available in sizes 2 to 48" (50 to 1200 mm) and are manufactured with outlets according to their diameters.

Outlets on the Plugs (for gas or liquid connection):

Plug Diameters up to 150 mm (6")

• 12 mm diameter outlet (0.5" BSP)

Plug Diameters 200 to 450 mm (8" to 18")

• 25 mm diameter outlet (1.0" BSP)

Plug Diameter 500 mm (20") and upwards

• 50 mm diameter outlet (2.0" BSP)
